INTEGRATED CENTRE

Mechanical-biological

waste treatment

Project TQ08000001 was implemented and completed at the Ekologie s.r.o. site by 30 January 2026. The project was co-financed with support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR) under the SIGMA Programme, with funding provided via the National Recovery Plan through the European Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).

We operate and expand an Integrated Waste Management Centre, including mechanical-biological treatment.

Construction of the Integrated Centre at the Ekologie s.r.o. site is fully compliant with EU, national and regional legislation and delivers positive local environmental impacts:

  • significant reduction of total waste disposed

  • diversion of recoverable fractions contained in MSW (e.g., recyclable metals) from landfilling

  • progressive reduction of landfill gas leakage into ambient air (leakage can occur even with an installed landfill gas collection and utilisation system, as referenced in specialist literature)

  • significant reduction of odour emissions

  • substantial reduction of windblown light fractions leaving the site

  • elimination of ignition risk at the waste reception facility

EU Directive:

Pathway to Technological Transformation

The EU Landfill Directive was adopted in 1999. Its objective is to minimise the environmental impacts of landfilling and promote sustainable waste-management practices across EU Member States.

ACTION PLAN

The EU Circular Economy Action Plan targets a significant reduction, by 2030, in the share of mixed municipal waste (MSW) that is not recycled.

60%

After 2030, EU Member States must recycle or prepare for reuse at least 60% of MSW.

Year 2035

The share of landfilled MSW is to be further limited to just 10% by 2035. EU countries are to introduce an effective system of quality control and traceability of landfilled MSW.

EEA

The European Environment Agency will issue early-warning reports three years ahead of each deadline, identifying implementation gaps and recommending corrective actions needed to meet the targets.
